Support Helen’s work and help honour the informants who provided material for the Creighton Collection:
Be a Performer: learn and practise the songs and stories from the Helen Creighton Folklife Collection or CD’s, Online Downloads and perform them in public. The songs and stories can be adapted to your own versions while giving credit to their source.
Be a Presenter: research and learn about Helen’s work, and present workshops on topics such as oral history collecting, oral storytelling, songs and ballads, folklore workshops. There are lots of resources for Helen Creighton and her collection on our webpage. There are experts for guidance on the Board of Directors too.
Be a Researcher or Project Coordinator: the Grants-In-Aid program can provide limited financial assistance for folk related projects in Atlantic Canada. See our GIA program page for details.
Be a Collector: Helen Creighton was a folklorist and collector in the oral tradition. You can also follow Helen’s example by collecting stories or songs from your family or community. The Society can provide information and resources on how-to-collect stories.
